shorts.ge is operated by SHORTSGE ("we", "us", or "our"). shorts.ge is a web application that uses Google Sign-In and YouTube API Services to help you turn your existing YouTube videos into short-form clips. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and process it, how we share it with internal and external parties, what cookies and similar technologies we use, and how you can manage or delete your data.
YouTube API Services. shorts.ge uses YouTube API Services (including the YouTube Data API) to authenticate your Google account, read your YouTube channel and video metadata, and upload generated Shorts to your channel when you explicitly request it. By using shorts.ge, you are also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service.
By using shorts.ge you agree to the practices described in this policy. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy , including the Limited Use requirements. For information about how Google collects and uses data, please review the Google Privacy Policy .
1. Data Accessed
Our platform requests access to the following Google user data when you sign in:
-
Basic Google account identity — your name, email address, and profile picture,
provided via the standard OpenID Connect scopes (
openid,profile,email). -
YouTube channel data (read-only) — via the
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.readonlyscope we access your channel's video list and the metadata (title, description, duration, thumbnail) of videos you select for processing. We do not access private messages, comments, playlists, or any data beyond what is needed to display and process your videos. -
YouTube upload capability — via the
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.uploadscope we are able to upload a generated Short to your YouTube channel. This action is only performed when you explicitly click the "Upload to YouTube" button. We never upload content without your direct instruction. - OAuth tokens — access tokens and refresh tokens issued by Google are stored server-side so that you do not have to re-authenticate on every request.
2. How We Use, Process, and Share Your Information
This section explains how shorts.ge uses, processes, and shares information collected through YouTube API Services and other parts of the service.
2.1 Internal use and processing
Within our own systems, we use your information only to operate shorts.ge:
- Authentication & account management — your name, email, and profile picture are used to create and identify your shorts.ge account and to personalise the user interface.
- Video library display — your YouTube video list and metadata are fetched to populate the video selection screen so you can choose which video to turn into Shorts.
- Short generation — the selected video's publicly accessible stream and its metadata are used as input for transcript extraction and AI-powered moment detection to produce short-form clips.
- YouTube upload (on explicit request) — when you choose to publish a generated Short, we use the upload scope to post the file to your YouTube channel on your behalf.
- Service operation & reliability — authentication tokens and basic account data are used to keep your session active, investigate errors, and maintain service integrity.
We do not use Google user data to serve advertisements, build marketing profiles, or for any purpose unrelated to the features listed above. Google user data is processed on our servers and is not used for any purpose other than providing the features described in this policy.
2.2 Sharing with external parties
shorts.ge does not sell, rent, or trade your Google user data. We share information with external parties only as described below, and only to the extent necessary to provide the service:
- AI processing provider (OpenAI) — transcripts generated from your selected video are sent to the OpenAI API to identify the best moments for Shorts. Only transcript text is sent; Google account credentials, OAuth tokens, and personally identifiable information are never shared with OpenAI.
- Infrastructure and hosting providers — our hosting and database service providers may process data on our behalf solely to operate the platform. These providers are bound by data processing agreements that restrict them from using your data for any other purpose.
- Legal obligations — we may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request (e.g., a court order), and only to the extent required.
No Google user data obtained through YouTube API Services is shared with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party for marketing or analytics purposes.

shorts.ge stores, accesses, and collects information on or from your device through cookies and similar browser technologies. These technologies help us keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used.
- Authentication cookies — when you sign in, we place a secure session cookie in your browser so you remain logged in while using shorts.ge. This cookie is essential for the service to function and expires when you sign out or after a period of inactivity.
-

shorts_langcookie to remember your chosen language (English or Georgian) so the interface displays in your preferred language on future visits. -

4. Data Storage & Protection
- OAuth tokens are stored in a secured, access-controlled server-side database. Database connections use TLS encryption in transit and the database is not exposed to the public internet.
- Account information (name, email) is stored in the same secured database, accessible only to authenticated application processes.
- Generated video files and transcripts are stored on the server file system in a per-user workspace directory that is not publicly accessible.
- Transport security — all communication between your browser and shorts.ge, and between our platform and Google/YouTube APIs, is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
- Access controls — access to user data within the application is restricted to the authenticated account owner. Administrative access to the server is limited to authorised personnel only.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
- Account and authentication data — retained for as long as your account is active. OAuth tokens are refreshed automatically and kept until you revoke access or delete your account.
- Generated Shorts, transcripts, and processing files — retained in your workspace until you manually delete them within the app or your account is deleted.
- Revoke YouTube API access (in-app) — if you are signed in, you can disconnect shorts.ge from your Google/YouTube account at any time using the "Disconnect YouTube" button in the app footer. This immediately revokes the OAuth tokens stored by shorts.ge and removes our ability to access your YouTube data through YouTube API Services. Your shorts.ge account and generated Shorts are not deleted.
- Revoke via Google Account — you can also revoke shorts.ge's access directly in your Google Account Permissions page. After revocation the app will no longer be able to access your YouTube data.
- Account deletion & data removal — to request the permanent deletion of your account and all associated data (including OAuth tokens, account information, and generated files), send an email to contact@shorts.ge with the subject line "Account Deletion Request". We will complete the deletion within 30 days and confirm by reply.

- You can sign out of shorts.ge at any time to end your active session.
- You can revoke shorts.ge's YouTube API authorization without deleting your account — either using the in-app Disconnect YouTube option in the footer or via Google Account Permissions .
